Israel self destruct

Rebirth of a Realist
It seems like just yesterday, I was an enthusiastic, patriotic American looking forward to a wonderful peaceful future. As the song goes, "Oh what a feeling." That was when my mother and father were so proud of the two-star banner they hung in the front window. That banner told everyone that their sons were in the war against fascism.
Will any generation ever have that feeling again? How wonderful to believe, as we did, that we had ended war forever. How wonderful to believe that we had defeated the forces of fascism and racism. Yes, naiveté has its place.
I must confess now, however, that I am one of the most cynical men on the planet. I am very doubtful about the future of the human animal. This same animal, which is by far the most vicious killer to walk the planet, not only kills millions of his own species every year, but also kills and devours millions of other species. He destroys the habitat of most of the other living creatures on the planet, and he is so stupid that he destroys his own environment. He pollutes his own water and fouls his own air, all in the name of greed. He sacrifices his family happiness to make enough money to build a huge house (bigger than his last one to show success) and own a bigger and more expensive car. He accumulates wealth and things that he or she does not use or need. Like everyone else, he will get sick and die and leave the money to be divided by lawyers, doctors, real estate agents, and the off spring who often pass it on to their drug dealer. One cannot help but get the impression in this new century that Capitalism, as we practice it today, has become a brain disorder spreading like a plague around the world.
My sister is at this time vegetating in a New Jersey Nursing home.
She has been there for over a year and her above average resources are being drained away. When I look at that once beautiful women, who is no longer able to communicate, and I think of how hard she worked to develop her rather large holdings, I become very angry. Many of the above-mentioned and others, all suffering from the same brain disorder, are viciously tearing at those holdings.
What a beautiful idea America was. "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution for the United States of America." Oh yes, what a hell of a great idea. I remember when I had to memorize that for a sixth grade play celebrating the Fourth of July. How did we let that great idea deteriorate into our present government?
The combination of the controlled media, the taking over of small town political committees along with the structured childhood of little league etc. appears to have bred the leadership gene out of the human animal. Today in every part of the world weak, personal agenda, leaders face constituent’s anger and yield to the likes Of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
The man who tops my hero’s list (Uri Avnery) often points out that right wing, blind faith, fanatical Zionists create the very product they so often complain about; Anti-Semitism.
CJP report--: http://www.cjp.org
"It's hardly a new problem that Jewish communities have found themselves being criticized, attacked or even under threat as a result of wars in the Middle East involving Israel," but it's much worse today than in the past, said Robert Wistrich, director of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Anti-Semitism at Hebrew University.
"Today there is a much more widespread antipathy and even revulsion in many mainstream public opinion circles, in Western countries as well, toward Israel that is more intense than it was 25 years ago," said Wistrich, a professor of European history.
Zionists are driven to self-destruction. One wonders what they do with the 3to5 billion American taxpayer’s dollars we send them every year. The division between the haves and have nots grows wider there every year.
Gov't Planning Sharp Welfare Cuts Despite Poverty Report 13:51 Aug 30, '06 / 6 Elul 5766
(IsraelNN.com) Finance Minister Avraham Hirchson is planning a series of welfare cuts amounting to more than $1.7 billion despite Wednesday's report that poverty in Israel has worsened. The government is trying to put together a 2007 budget that has to deal with unexpected costs as a result of the Hizbullah terrorist war, which brought about increased spending demands from the IDF and extra costs for rebuilding the north. Among the proposed cuts are cutting quotas for foreign workers, raising university tuitions, cutting child allowances for the first child, reducing benefits for discharged soldiers and obligating parents to pay school costs.
Globes - Rishon Le-Zion,IsraelThe National Insurance Institute published its 2005 poverty report today, which states that the number of poor rose by 92,200 compared with 2004. The increase was more than expected. The number of poor in Israel rose 6.2% from 1.53 million in 2004 to 1.63 million in 2005.
The most significant increase was in the number of poor children. 768,000 children lived below the poverty line in 2005, an increase of 7.7%, or 52,200 children, over 2004. The number of poor families rose by 4.2%, or 16,500 families, to 394,200 in 2005.

No, I don’t think we are the smartest species on the planet. If there is a life after death I would rather come back as an oak tree.

Rebirth of a Realist

Rebirth of a Realist

Has there ever been a time in history when so many were cowed and terrorized by so few?
Many anti-war voters in Connecticut gave the country and certainly the President a punch in the nose by
Voting against the eighteen year incumbent senator and committed Zionist war hawk Senator Lieberman.
Fearing to speak it out loud frustrated peaceniks were voting against Israeli aggression and the total grip AIPAC (American Israel Public affairs Committee, I prefer to call it the American Israel Political Action Committee because that is what it is.] has on American foreign policy. I have tried to point out to the local media that AIPAC owns Lieberman's Ears, eyes, mouth and heart. The media feels Israel and AIPC are not germane to our elections.
Acknowledging the power of AIPAC the right wing columnist Novak pointed out that" Washington
remains largely a bipartisan, criticism-free zone for Israel."
Important new details of the U.S.-Israeli espionage case involving Larry Franklin, the alleged Pentagon spy, two officials of the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee, and an intelligence official at the Embassy of Israel emerged last week. Two AIPAC officials—who have left the organization—were indicted along with Franklin on charges of "communicating national defense information to persons not entitled to receive it." In plain English, if not legal-speak, that means spying,
Robert Dreyfuss
Juan Cole-- On the rare occasion when a brave member of Congress dares stand up to this unrelenting AIPAC tyranny, that person is targeted for un-election in the next congressional campaign, with big money directed by AIPAC and/or its analogues into the coffers of the senator's or congressman's opponent. Over and over again, AIPAC has shaped the U.S. Congress in this way, so successfully that no one even dares speak out any more

The fact is, all of America seems to be a "criticism free zone for Israel."
Those of us who voted for the first time candidate who defeated Lieberman celebrated the victory. Perhaps the tide is turning we thought. By the next day we awakened to reality. A conspiracy between the Republican Party, AIPAC and Carl Rove in the White House moved to get Lieberman, a life-long democrat re-elected as an independent.
Panicked by the thought and smitten with the political fever, the so-called Peace candidate began making overtures to AIPAC and the Jewish community. He even went so far as to sit down to dinner and discuss, "how, as a US Senator, can I help Israel." With Shimon Perez.
The entire peace community in Connecticut was shocked and dismayed. One can not be against the war in Iraq and support the atrocities of the Israeli military.
How can so few cower so many? One of the reasons is that a large portion of the American population still believes that God gave the Jews the land Of Israel. The other reason is that the guilt of the Christian church’s anti-Semitism of the twenties and thirties seems to be passed down generation to generation.
But the most import reason is the enormous power of AIPAC to raise money and not only to support certain candidate, but also to defeat others.
I do believe that in my lifetime the many will again turn on the few and the cycle will begin again.

Rebirth of a Realist

Standing in front of the train ticket window, my sea bags on my shoulder and still in uniform with my ribbons for all to see, I was about to buy a ticket home and begin civilian life. A Trainman came by and asked me where I was going. I told him and he waved for me to follow him. I told him I didn’t have a ticket but he put me on the train. Later I had to take a bus from the train station to my home. The driver put his hand over the coin collector and again I rode free.
At home I had my mustering out pay, a ten thousand dollar GI mortgage guarantee, free college tuition with a stipend of $50 a month if I attended and the twenty dollars a week for fifty two weeks to hold me over. I was also assured of health benefits at Veterans hospitals. That was the mid forties. That was my America. Today the Bush administration is cutting the Veterans hospital budgets to the bone and he is making more patients every day.
The treatment of our veterans today is a national disgrace.
The question all aging Americans want answered is how did we let our America get away from us?
We thought our America was really a democracy with a government of by and for the people.
As I write this two candidates for the Democratic nomination for the US Senate in Connecticut have already spent about ten million each and the campaign still has a few days to run. That is only for the nomination. How much will they spend on the election campaign itself?
Michael Bloomberg spent about $73 million of his own money to win the mayor's seat in New York City. One wonders how much more was contributed. He bought the Mayor’s office.
If you have enough money, say around one hundred million, you can yank a duly elected governor out of office and stick in a muscle-bound two bit actor with absolutely no credentials to govern a large state. Of course the actor had to promise big contributors that the first thing he would do is deregulate the energy industry in California and that is what he did.
They did the same thing with Ronald Reagan who soon became known as the de-regulation President.
As a Realist I can see that this is not only happening in America, but around the world. In Moscow I heard Russians use the old expression of money talks when speaking of politics and the election of the boorish drunk Yeltsin and his successor Putin. American Dollars put them both in Power.
In Tel A Viv I heard the same thing said about the election of Begin, and Sharon. Even when speaking to a Chinese journalist at the Book Expo in New York she told me how upset she was that American dollars are at work in Chinese politics and Chinese media. As I grow older and watch history repeat itself I become very angry.
How did we let this happen? What was it Eugene O’Niel said, There is no tomorrow or today, just yesterday, again and again and now.
On November 10,1939 Nazi storm troopers smashed windows of Jewish storefronts, burned synagogues and created mayhem. A total of 110 synagogues were destroyed, 7,500 Jewish businesses were smashed, 26,000 Jews were arrested and physically beaten, and 91 died. Later Goering and his henchmen joked about it and called it Kristallnacht. I remember my mother’s tears.
Last night I had tears of my own as I watched Israeli soldiers (be careful not to call them Jews; my mother would be offended) smashing walls and windows of the homes of terrified Palestinians.
Goering’s excuse was that a 17-year-old boy named Herschel Grynszpan had killed Nazi Third Secretary Ernst Von Rath after the Nazis had destroyed his father’s business. Can any honest person not see a parallel today?
In 1966 I stood in front of Martin Luther King at the base of Enid Dam in Mississippi. An exasperated King looked up at the gun-carrying possemen on top of the dam and then stared at the militants in our group screaming for Black power. King said, "I am not interested in white power, green power or black power. I am only interested in moral power, the most powerful force on earth."
Israel was created on moral power, but as the right wing, blind-faith fanatics gained control the moral power diminished. Now there are anti-Israel demonstrations everywhere. These are not anti-Semites who are demonstrating; many are Jews like me.
The Jewish Federation, who ran ads stating, " we stand with Israel" and those members who belong, must decide if they are standing with the thousands of Jewish anti-war demonstrators in Israel and all over the world who are trying to restore the moral power, or if they are with the Kristallnacht troops who have destroyed it and may therefor destroy the state. Older Jews must also be asking How did we let Israel get away from us.
